How Long Does It Take Water to Boil

The altitude, salinity of the water and other conditions affect the boiling time for water. In a pot on the stove, you can expect water to boil in 10 to 20 minutes. In the microwave, water will boil in about 3-4 minutes. When boiling water in the microwave, avoid using a smooth glass container as there is a risk of cracks from the boiling water.
